Mother, Father and I went to Melbourne on Sunday night.
The day was hot when we left Newcastle for the start of our Melbourne adventure.
We were travelling Countrylink XPT train to Melbourne all night.
I am looking forward to my time with Claire at The Link. I will meet other Deaf-Blind “Ushers people” learn about their life how they cope what interests them more to-morrow.
It is now 6am Monday, January 2002.
On boy what a bad night the abscess on my wisdom tooth was very painful and my ear ached. I hope it gets better to-day. I do not want anything to spoil my visit. Mother tries to help, the dentist said I would have to wait for the antibiotics to work before they took the tooth out.
The train shakes I feel bangs it is awful. Mother said we cannot do anything about it not to worry, father is with us we would be safe. We arrived in Melbourne about 7am Monday morning, and went to the motel. My head and left ear were worse. Mother asked a lady, “Is there a Dental Hospital in Melbourne? Please!” The lady told mother where the hospital was. Before father and I could think we were in a taxi and we arrived at the hospital.
At the hospital I had to wait my turn; A kind lady doctor took me to the surgery and had a look at my mouth, then sent me for an x-ray. I had to wait a little while then the doctor took out my bad tooth. The tooth was the one next to the tooth with the abscess; It had a bad infection, We could not thank the doctor and the Melbourne Dental Hospital enough, Father told people the trip was worth it because there was help for me , Now I can enjoy my visit to The Link. I have looked forward to my visit for along time.
Here it is Tuesday morning now to meet Claire at “The Link” rooms.
It would be good if we had rooms to go to here in Newcastle.
I stayed with Claire all day.
I was ready for bed. We had a meal and shower then into bed. It felt good to relax.
Wednesday morning, to-day we will go and renew our memories of the city. The free brown tram ride was good. We left the tram in Spring Street, and walked down Bourke Street, oh boy we had a good meal and best of all Banana Smoothies. We walked around, as my appointment time came near we headed for The Link.
Wednesday at last it was here and I was to meet a special person. We had spoken via the e-mail, but now. I was to meet her in person Claire had told us how nice she was. Two 0’clock came and M’s Jeanette Lee was there at the link ,{a petite lovely lady}. We worked together until after four 0’clock. This was great. I learnt a lot from her. Jeanette was very patient with me, quietly, patiently she helped me the through my chat online lesson. Too soon our meeting came to an end, a (though I will be working on the Internet with her.
Jeanette made it easy to understand and follow the work we attempted. Afterwards we went back to the motel. Father, mother and I talked and decided to go to the casino for a while. We had a good time together and came home about 9 0’clock night.
Thursday morning we packed our bags and took them to Spencer Street Station .Caught the brown tram to Elizabeth Street, to go to the link and my friend Claire and Christine. The link is a good, here I was able to meet other deaf-vision impaired people. Heather a lovely vibrant self assured young lady, John? also Peter Tarrant who talked to me and the social aspect was very good.
class="xfont_03"> What nice people they all are. Everyone dropped in on Thursday it was great. I hope I will have messages from John and Peter, maybe from some of the other deaf-blind people I met.
Thursday night we started our journey home to Newcastle.
Melbourne:- The Link Christine, Claire, Jeanette we will return "The Good Lord Willing".
Bye for now.
